LATEST NEWS!

PANTO PROJECT

Unfortunately Windsor Theatre Royal had to close Cinderella once the local area moved into Tier 3.  This meant we could only offer half of our pantomime ticket offer.  Luckily we still managed to offer tickets to over 250 local people in 2020.  Thank you to all the charities (listed below) and your lovely messages (below)

Kevin Cruise Foundation to Fund Performing Arts Sessions with Industry Professionals

As a response to the current situation and the cancellation of our Easter Pantomime and workshops,
we have had an idea.

With so many industry professionals on an enforced break, and with many performing arts students, or those with a desire to join the industry, stuck at home, we would like to bring you all together (from a distance of course).

We are setting up FREE 30 min sessions, open and available to anyone from 12 years old and up,  living within the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.

These sessions will be generously funded by some of the donations we have received over the last year.  A large amount of Industry Professionals have found themselves currently out of work and we hope by funding these sessions we can help with their current situation a little.

We will place your details into a list.  The list will then be divided into the relevant categories and details distributed to our wonderful industry professionals (See who's who below)

It will then be up to our industry professionals to make contact and arrange the sessions with you. Please note that if you are under 18 years old you will need a guardian to apply for you and be in attendance during the online session.

If you are interested in the performance side of things, you can pick your session from one of the following:

Singing for Theatre.

Acting Crash Courses: Preparing for An Audition or Monologue Workshop.

Inside the Mind of the Magician: A Workshop on Showmanship and Learning Tricks.

We are also offering one-on-one Skype calls or phone conversations with industry professionals, who work
behind-the-scenes of theatrical productions.

These sessions would be extremely useful if you are working towards or wish to start a career in theatre, or are currently studying for a career in the industry.  This will give you the chance to pick brains, make contacts or gain some insight, that you may not usually have access to.

Depending on what you want your session to be about, you will have access to any of the following:

TV Presenting

Voice Overs

Story Telling

Playwriting

Applying to Drama School

Theatre Producing, Theatre Directing, Musical Direction

Piano Lesson, Flute Lesson

Composing, Keyboard Programming

Dance, Jazz, Tap, Ballet

Public Speaking, Live Presenting, Radio Presenting

Stage Management

Scenic Art, Costume Design and Creation, Set Design

Magic, Comedy and Magic

If you would like to apply for your very own Kevin Cruise Foundation - Performing Arts Connect session then fill out the form below.  Please note at this time we can only offer one session per person.

NB: This is a very recent idea, put together as quickly as possible to try and make this difficult time slightly more bearable for all concerned.  If you do not receive a reply please understand we are simply doing the best we can in the spare time we have. Not everyone may receive an offer or correspondence.  We are all trying to juggle this unprecedented time. However we do hope to connect as many of you as possible.  All circumstances subject to change. Offer true as of 24th March 2020.

FOUNDATION CHRISTMAS CARDS

For the last few months the Kevin Cruise Foundation has been working with local artist, Siobhan Tilley of Happy Days Studio, to create a beautiful new card to help raise money this Christmas season.

Not only has this watercolour painting been created and kindly gifted, but the print & production costs of these cards were generously funded by the Rotary Club of Maidenhead Bridge.

Because of this, 100% of card sales will go towards purchasing pantomime tickets for sick children & disadvantaged families, children in care & hard-working volunteers in the local area this Christmas.

Martin Cabble-Reid founded the charity last year and had this to say about the card. "We wanted a Christmas Card that embraced everything we are about at Christmas: theatre, pantomime, children, festivities and lots of colour.  We are over the moon with what Siobhan has created and can’t wait to share the joy with everyone!"

The cards will be available in packs of 10, including envelopes. They will be available to buy at this October's Charity Gala, then online through the Kevin Cruise Foundation website.

"I was delighted to be asked, to design a Christmas card for the Kevin Cruise Foundation," says Siobhan. "It is such a wonderful charity and working with Martin, has been an absolute pleasure and lots of fun! It’s a lovely feeling to know that something I have created will help raise money for the Kevin Cruise Foundation, which in turn, will put smiles on so many children’s faces."

Forest Bridge School - Term 3

Wednesday 12th June we started our new workshop and this term it's...PUPPETRY!  A whole new class will learn this wonderful art form.  Children will learn to co-operate when working in small groups and to produce their own puppet play including jokes, song, acting and dialogue. This is a great way to introduce performing arts and gaining self-confidence to the children.  We will be introducing finger, hand & string puppets with the children making their own sock puppets for a final performance in a few weeks.

Forest Bridge School - Term 2

In May we continued our work at Forest Bridge School, Maidenhead.  This was our second term of workshops and we taught the Maple class magic tricks over a four week period.  In the last week they performed the tricks they had learnt and the whole school was treated to a show by local magician, Magic Mark.  We gifted the school the magic tricks for future use.
Congratulations to everyone involved.

Forest Bridge School - Term 1

In February we started our Young People's project at Forest Bridge School, Maidenhead.
We have supplied & funded a teacher for a six week workshop to teach elements of performing arts, once a week with children that have special educational needs.
The children also learnt to play musical instruments which we gifted to the school
at the end of the six weeks.  Here's a few pictures of the children (parents permission obtained) with their before and after t-shirts of many colours.  In their final performance they will sing songs from the musical, Joseph.

"Everyone deserves the chance to experience the magic of theatre.”

- Martin Cabble-Reid

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is rich in culture and heritage and well served by multiple venues across the borough, such as Theatre Royal Windsor, Windsor Fire Station, The Desborough Theatre, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts and The Magnet Leisure Centre, as well as dozens of smaller venues across the borough, such as village and school halls.

However, it is also a borough of great diversity and, despite remarkable projects and efforts from our local arts centres, we have identified a need for further  exposure to the performing arts, particularly for children and from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Kevin Cruise Foundation is a response to this need.  Offering complimentary theatre tickets to children, families, carers, schools and charity volunteers.
